Random musings for Friday

So it’s Friday, gonna spend some time with My wife and some friends in the City tonight i think, maybe go see the band Northern Liberties down in Norther Liberties … uh huh!

14- 2 in my bracket so far…not so shabby for a guy who watched “0″ college basketball all year.

In case you were wondering no i dont have Strep throat, just possibly allergies.

MY schedule for the next few months is nuts…next weekend, NorCa for Aarons Bachelor weekend, April 9-12Cabin weekend with the Family, April 16-23 SCAA Conference, then Espresso training in NorCa again. May 1st i start full time a OVC, Then May 9th A & K get marriaged, then back to the cabin on labor day weekend, then the following weekend the Weierbach Cabin weekend, which i really hope Brian can make it too, hopefully this post isn’t too self indulgent for him LOL!

 

Following your dreams and quality of life.

I must say i have enjoyed my time working as the Technology Coordinator at Calvary Church, but i am excited to be following my dreams and moving on to a full time postition as Chief Roaster at One Village Coffee. Honestly it is a bit scary in a few ways. We are still a small startup company, so there is that risk, but it is also a motivation, how can i help OVC become the company we all believe it can be, how can i be a part of making us profitable and therefor a successful business. There is also the part where i am losing Salary and some benfits we are used to, i have a family and they are so important so i want to do right by them, so i need to buckle down  and be wise with what God has provided for us with, but also i believe that this move will provide us with a better quality of life. I will be persuing my dreams, working where i really want to be, not that i dont love my current job, it just isn’t may passion any more. I will be home more+ nights now that i wont be roasting an night time, so i should have more time with my family, my kids are growing up quick and impressionable, i want to be there to help be a part of who they are and who they become. I am excited to be a part of a company that i believe in what we are doing as making a positive global and local impact for the good. I am looking forward to the complexity of learning how to work in this new enviornment full time. I am looking forward to getting deeper in my relationships with those i work with and how they can affect me and help me be the better person for it. I am looking forward to being in the coffee industry full time, learning from others and sharing knowledge amoung the community. I look forward to being in coffeehouses more, cupping more, making new blends, new aquisitions, and honing my skills. I know it wont be all sunshine and roases, but i also know it is an amazing oppurtunity, and i feel blessed to be able to do this and overwhlemed by God’s grace at the same time. Thank you God, thank you Scott, Aaron, Rob, Steve, Lois, Andrea, Kylie, Sarah, Michael, Melissa, Corrine and all who have been a part of making OVC what it is today and what it will become. Thank you Patty, Kaleigh and Julian for believeing in  me. I love you all and look forward to what is ahead, and look back with gratitude on what has come before.

 

Today it was made official

Scott Kregel made the official announcement at Calvary this morning, I am going to be full time with OVC Starting May 1st. I am pursuing my dreams!

 

Frank Mir=Going down!

Talk all you want about how Brock Lesnar is an upstart punk in the UFC, and a joke or whatever, but the guy has beat some of the best competition in the game and remains a humble guy, during UFC 92 he was interviewed by Joe “Fear Factor” Rogan and when Joe called him the champ he stopped him and said, i’m not the champ untill i beat the winner of tonights fight (even though he had beaten Randy Couture and won the heavyweight belt), which turns out to be Mir. Last Night Mir who anounces for the UFC’s lighter weight counterpart (both companies are owned by Dana White) WEC was talking with his co-anouncer before the fight, was called champ and let it stand. Frank Mir is a cocky guy who got a lucky win against a less experienced Lesnar in a earlier fight. My prediction is that Nir will go down hard, and good riddance.

 

WEC Varner vs Cerrone, Urijah Faber-Jens Pulver 2 UPDATED

No contest really, Faber came out and showed the world once again who is and will be the champ in the Featherweight devision, i dont care who he fights he will get the belt back. The main event was a great fight alot of great striking and take downs with VArner doing some amazing ground and pound, right until Cerrone kneed him while he was down in the fifth, the fight went to the cards because Varner couldn’t see. Varner won on rounds in a split decision which was whack since Varner Carried the action all night. Now i have to find the affliction video.

Ok got to see the affliction Arlovski vs Emelianenko bout, all 3 minutes of it, after more reading, it seems that Fedor says he knew the knee was copming and was ready…hmmm, either flukey or good, he dropped the guy in mid air, i’d like to see them go at it again.

 

Inauguration Maddness??!?

Really, is it that exciting, it’s a man swearing on a book to do what is right for the country. Honestly i am more excited to see what Obama will bring to the office. Honestly the whole rockstar mentality of it is a bit over the top. It makes me wonder what the reaction will be the first time he does something unpopular, or will he simply be a populist president who rides the wave of public opinion not really making the tough calls. I am both excited and worried. Is he our next president and is this an exciting time, yes, is he the messiah….i dont think so. I think it’s time we took a step back and put this all in perspective, and gave the man room to be president, and not expect him to be savoir.

 

Eagles Lose, changes to come

It’s inevitable, your team makes it to the NFC championship game and loses and… everyone freaks out and calls for the coaches and the QB’s head, and will we bring back Dawkins…blah blah blah. I don’t even want to listen to WIP this week, i know people want to jump off of bridges right now, but only idiot fans who0 call that station. I think we need to look to the future, i don’t think Kolb is the answer, i think we look to draft a QB or pick one up from somewhere else, think maybe Matt Cassel, or well i don’t know who else. This years draft looks to be a bit thin on QB’s ready to step in, but if we have a mediocre season next year, Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy will be coming out the next year. Maybe we roll the dice play Kolb, if he is good that we win if not then we draft well. I am willing to take a bad year to get a high pick and come back with a new better rebuilt team, oh and as i have said Andy must still go.

 

McNabb…my quaterback!

I’m tired of it, listening to people rag on McNabb, really people there are maybe 4 QB’s i would take over MCNabb right now and only 1 of those QB’s teams are still in the playoff’s Here is my list

1. Tom Brady
2. Peyton Manning
3. Drew Brees
4. Phillip Rivers

none of those guys are going anywhere and we have seen enough of Kolb to know he’s not the guy, so lets put the blame squarely where it lies, on the coach, sure we are in the playoffs, but not by any of his doing rather in spite of his awful, woeful game plans. So what i am trying to say here is give the guy a break, he is doing his part lets hope the coach will do his this weekend.
